The Subaru WRX, a turbocharged version of the Subaru Impreza, is engineered with rally car technology and implements some significant design changes in 2011.
The WRX has changed its design to widen the stance of the vehicle making it so much more stable and agile through the turns, this new style gives the WRX a much broader looking and more aggressive stance.
The 2011 WRX model changes are more aggressive with new ground effects in an attempt to make it look more like it’s bigger brother the WRX STI. The most notable being the front quarter panel slope, the front grill and the bulging fenders which gave the rear of the vehicle a wider track and a more solid looking performance vehicle.
This more aggressive styling gives the WRX more of a sense of power and high performance than it had in the past. The previous year’s models seemed a bit bland despite their turbocharged engine accolades. For those who may not like the flashy STI look, this new WRX is sophisticated enough to look powerful and at the same time appropriate for the more conservative owner.
The Subaru WRX is at heart, a rally car, so trying to disguise its true identity is tough to do. This new design will likely enhance the drivers perception of performance and reassure it was the look of something much more capable of appealing to the enthusiast.
In addition, there’s a huge aftermarket for these vehicles allows people to do all sorts of modifications whether it be performance related or appearance. The WRX seems to capture the basics quite well and leaves the rest to the imagination of the new owner.
